San Antonio --  It’s estimated that 20,000 protestors hit the streets of Phoenix, marching against Arizona's controversial immigration law.

More than 50 protestors from San Antonio made their way to the National Day to Speak Out rally this weekend. Their objective was to protest against Senate Bill 1070. The law allows officers to check immigration status, while enforcing another law, and if they "reasonably suspect" a person is in the United States illegally.

Most people who protested on Saturday believe the law encourages racial profiling.

Roberto Flotte is a college student from Austin. He's originally from Mexico, but hoping to one day become a us citizen. On Saturday, he not only marched for himself and for the experience, but for the family he still has across the border.

"There were a lot of children,” Flotte remembered. “I saw a lot of children and that was very important. A lot of families and a lot of mothers with their kids."

The diversity of the protest group is what stood out to him most; people, young and old, braving the heat to speak out.

"We got back inspired, especially by the stories and by the organizers in Phoenix. Many of them don't sleep and haven't slept in weeks, but they keep fighting," Flotte told News 4 WOAI.

Senate Bill 1070 is set to go into effect in late July.

Protestors like Roberto Flotte are hoping the federal government will step in before then to repeal the law.

We don't want to kill them....just get them out of this country and then they are more than welcome to come back legally!

Freehole-are you saying you are not here legally? Is that what all this is about? I'm not trying to attack you, I'm just trying to understand why you are so against this law. If you are here legally then you left Mexico because you felt it wasn't a good place for you and your family so why are you bashing the country you came to so you could "live your dream"? And if you are here legally then why do you feel that so many can just jump our borders and stay in our country illegally? If you worked at becoming legal don't you feel they should to? And also I believe when immigrants become citizens they take an oath to uphold our laws and make this country theirs. It seems to me that you are looking forward to our wonderful country, that has probably given you so much, to become another Mexico overrun with violence and even more corruption then we already have. Please, if you choose to answer my questions, check your racism as my comments are not racist and neither am I.

I don't want to be deported, of course not! I'd get killed or kidnapped the very first day over there in Mexico. And I never cared for the "La Raza" or any other "Brown" movement. I'm Mexican but I'm slightly different than your average immigrant from down south. My posts only reflect what is going on around us and, believe you me, I'm not the one to blame for all this crapola. Vina ArianZona! Viva TeKKKsas! Let's gas all the 12 million illegals and we will be DOUBLE the great of the German National-Socialists!

Only time will tell if this law lives up to its own words: Sec 11.c. "This act shall be implemented in a manner consistent with federal laws regulating immigration, protecting the civil rights of all persons and respecting the privileges and immunities of United States citizens." There's too much hate and resentment against illegal immigrants; the right's of legal residents and US citizens will be raped by rogue racist enforcement officers.

Freehole proves just how ignorant the protest movement is. They can't tell you what part of the bill they are protesting and result to childish put downs and the never ending call of "racist" to stop you from standing up against them.

It isn't about race, it's about the LAW! The AZ law isn't even as restrictive as the federal law that isn't enforced. All the Californicators protesting should check their OWN law, that isn't enforced. Ever read Mexico's immigration laws? I think we should adopt theirs! Every country has strict immigration laws that they actually enforce, yet when WE try to enforce ours we get accused of racism! I know MANY legal immigrants, mostly from Mexico and they ALL are in favor of this law. It's a slap in the faces of those who came here legally. I wanna see people go to Mexico, protest their laws, and fly OUR flag. We can well imagine what would happen!
