I'm O neg and have my 3 gallon pin from the blood bank. Then the questionaires came and got me, "Have you ever been to an African country?" Yes, in the military in 1983, for 2 weeks. Bam. Done. Now they won't take my blood. I understand being careful, but geez, I'm healthy, no medical history at all and they won't clear me to keep donating. Someone donate for me too. If they won't test people who regularly donate for disease before donation, then they must not need the blood all that badly. I understand the need for "clean" blood and you must be very careful these days, but test people, clear them , and let them donate too.

I am O-neg and I donated - please anyone out there, please do as I did and help the fallen.

FYI- When I called they said that they have a soldier who is in need of a liver transplant who is o-neg and they are running on a very low supply of o-neg. Hopefully the base commander will make all those who are o-neg and who qualify donate.
