SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department is looking to hire several lifeguards and they're organizing parties to find them.

If you're interested in becoming a lifeguard, the city of San Antonio will be holding a series of "Wanna Be a Lifeguard?" parties in the hopes that local teens, college students and adults 16 and over will apply and attend.

The parties will be held on the following Saturdays: Feb. 23, March 9 and 30 and April 13 and 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Natatorium, 1430 W. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd.
At the parties, individuals are able to apply on-site and a prerequisite skills test will also be available.

Applicants should bring their swimsuits and be prepared to swim 300 yards freestyle and breaststroke, tread water with no arms for 2 minutes, as well as retrieve a 10-pound weight from the 13 foot depth and swim across the pool within the allotted time. Practice time and instruction will be available.
