KABUL, Afghanistan - We hear the sounds and report the developments, but the big picture of what's going on in Afghanistan is incomplete without a first-hand account. Two Airmen stationed at Randolph Air Force Base are about to provide just that.
Tech Sergeant Ken Raimondi is half of a two-man team that will travel across Afghanistan for 30 days, telling the stories of fellow service members. He will be joined by Tech Sergeant Nathan Gallahan to document and share this first-ever look at the counterinsurgency.
Everyone can follow along as they document the journey online. Beginning on Monday, February 8, they will post their accounts with text and video as they travel through the five regional commands. The goal is to have people learn more about Afghanistan and give a view of the war beyond what you see in the headlines.
“We want to show the human side of the story,” explains TSgt Raimondi. “How do people feel being out here? There's 44 different nations involved in ISAF. What motivates these folks to be here?”
