Robbers beat, threaten to kill store owner

SAN ANTONIO -- Police need your help to track down two men they say robbed a Southeast Side convenience store.

The robbery happened at the Gas N Go Food Mart in the 4600 block of S. Presa on April 29th. The owner told police two men walked into the store shortly after 9:00 p.m. One of the men placed a "closed" sign on the door, while the other man pulled himself on top of the counter near the cash register and told the owner to "open the register or I'm gonna kill you."

The owner complied, but said both suspects began hitting him as they grabbed the cash. Police say two employees in the back of the store heard the commotion and walked up to the front to see what was happening. A police report states one of the employees saw the robbers assaulting the owner and ran to try to help him but was then attacked himself. The owner and the employees said once the robbers got the cash out of the register, they ran out of the store and headed east on Southcross and then north on Hackberry. Police say a driver who was stopped at a red light at East Southcross and South Presa witnessed the event and was able to follow the men as far as the street Linda Lou.

One of the robbers is described as a black male who is 25 to 35 years of age, 5' 10" tall, weighs about 200 pounds, has a medium build, and a dark complexion. He was wearing a black sweater hoodie, black shorts, and black shoes.

The other is described as a black male who is 25 to 33 years of age, 6' 0" tall, weighs about 185 pounds and has a light build. He was wearing a black sweater hoodie, black pants, and black shoes.
