SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Fire Department and Crime Stoppers need your help to track down two arson suspects.
According to investigators, the two men entered the Denny’s at 6110 Interstate 35 North, near Rittiman Road, at 3:18 a.m. on December 16, 2012. About 20 minutes later, witnesses say the pair became upset at the wait staff and got up and placed their menus at the server station. As they were leaving, the suspect in the grey hooded sweatshirt was seen lighting something on fire and throwing it onto a live Christmas tree inside the restaurant. The tree caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames within seconds. Officials say the fire caused and estimated $150,000 in damages and endangered the lives of 20 patrons and workers.
Both of the suspects were white and had short hair. One, who had on glasses and smoked, had a walking cast on his right foot. They drove off in a dark-colored, newer model Toyota FJ Cruiser.
