SAN ANTONIO -- A public meeting will be held this Friday at 6:30 pm to address concerns over break-ins at OP Schnabel Park. The meeting will be held at 5020 Prue Road, at the SAPD police substation.

"We're trying to actually get out in front of the issue to make the park safe, so everybody can go out and enjoy them, " said Officer Matthew Porter with SAPD.

Doug Ratliff who heads up the Alamo Running Buddies said his group has been running away from the park since member's cars have been targeted.

"We'd like to be able to run here without having to feel anxiety or worry about whether or not our cars are being broken into," said Ratliff.

Runner Amanda Botello said she was only away from her car for about 30 minutes when it was broken into. Thieves took her cell phone, wallet and even her house keys.

"It was a disaster, I'm still recovering honestly," added Botello.

Both SAPD and Park police officers are expected to attend Friday night's meeting to discuss ways to better secure the park.
