A porn study done in San Antonio found that watching pornography is as addictive as cocaine, meth, and alcohol. It can also lead to social problems in teenagers.
Dr. Donald Hilton, Jr. with the American Board of Neurological Surgery was one of the researchers. He discovered the frontal lobe of the brain shrinks in people who are addicted to porn. Dr. Hilton says that is the same thing that happens in drug addicts and alcoholics. Porn, he says, has a hijacking effect of the natural pleasure system in the brain and can affect a person's judgment causing them to be easily agitated and impulsive.
Dr. Hilton says porn can also cause a teen who spends hours watching it to have a skewed image of sexuality. He says it can create social detachment or insecurity when interacting with the opposite sex.
