SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Police are asking for the public's help in solving a deadly hit and run case.
Diann Sharnell Ford, 22, died after she was struck by a vehicle on October 25th of 2011. Police say Diann, who was eight months pregnant, had just completed her shift at the Long John Silver’s restaurant on Interstate 35 around 11:05 p.m. and began walking home.
While she was crossing the access road in front of the McDonald’s restaurant in the 1100 block of Interstate 35 North, Diann was hit by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle slowed down, but then left the scene without stopping or attempting to help Diann.
Diann was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge in Austin, where she delivered a healthy baby girl.
“Two days later, Diann died from complications from her injuries,” said Sgt. Christopher Tureaud, a police investigator on the case. “She was eight months pregnant when she was struck and killed by the driver who fled the scene.”
