NEW YORK (NBC News Channel) -- The car, the boot, the top hat, every player of Monopoly has that favorite token they select to play the game, and if you're a lover of the game, you'll want to "save your token" before it can no longer pass "go!"

Hasbro has launched a "Save Your Token" campaign to retire one token and welcome in a new one. Through Monopoly's Facebook page, fans can vote for the token they want to keep. The one with the lowest number of votes will permanently "go to jail."

Fans are also asked to vote for a replacement token. The choices are a toy robot, helicopter, cat, guitar or diamond ring.

You have until February 5th to cast your votes.

A limited-run "golden token" Monopoly will arrive exclusively in Target stores in mid-February. It'll be the last edition to contain all of the classic tokens and the only set to include all five of the potential new tokens.

I agree, they shouldn't change them!!! And the dog better stay! As a child I would irritate my sister by making my dog "pee" on all her properties. But, she usually won, so fair trade. It's still my favorite.

@CleanupSociety, I agree with you. But, with the rise of electronic games and the downfall of true board games (such a shame), I figure this is a genius marketing tool. Get consumers involved in choosing the tokens that stay, choosing the new kid on the block, and helping to put a hefty price on a collector's choice limited edition game, as well as on the "retired" token. Board games and family time are so much fun, such a bonding experience for the family/friends, and can be truly educational and thought provoking (Balderdash was one of my favorites, and especially WaHoo, otherwise known as Aggravagation). Better than the TV, XBox, etc. If you want to know how to help our society, board games & family time, along with the sit down together family supper AT HOME (cooked together would be best) would be excellent first steps in the right direction.

WHY? Why are you messing with a classic game. Leave it as it is!
