Microsoft is in talks to invest $1 to 3 billion dollars into Dell according to CNBC and the Wall Street Journal.

It is thought to be a move to help the company go private. Should Microsoft invest the money, it would make Microsoft Corp. a minority investor in a deal expected to cost 23 billion if it's completed.

Microsoft uses Dell products and it would allow Microsoft to shape decisions at the personal computer maker.

Microsoft has declined to comment.
