If you take one look at Emma Degoes, you would never know she was sick. The 14-year-old is bright, bubbly and a cancer survivor. In February, the Bandera High School freshman was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a cancer that originates from white blood cells.
Since then, she's had to undergo chemotherapy five times. Now, she has a special message for others just like her.
"If you stay positive, you can beat this battle and you can win," said Degoes.
You can help Degoes and other cancer survivors win their fight at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Light the Night Walk." Emma is this year's honored hero and she will speak at the event. The walk starts at 7:30 p.m. at Hemisfair park.
