SAN ANTONIO - The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run will be held on Sunday.

San Antonio police officers and San Antonio firefighters will run a 5K in full gear in memory of the tragic events of 9/11.

The first police officer and firefighter to cross the finish line in full gear will win a trip to New York and represent the city of San Antonio in the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K-New York.

Siller, a New York firefighter, died on September 11.

He was already off work and was one of the first to voluntarily return to help out.

"He heard what happened, he went back to his station, and got his 60 pounds of gear. He got to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel where traffic was jammed up so he got out and ran with all his gear into the second tower," said Officer Matt Porter, San Antonio Police Department.

Sunday's Tunnel to Towers Run will begin at 8:30 a.m at Alamo Plaza and will end there, too.

The run is open to everyone.
