SAN ANTONIO -- A 4-year old boy who was hit by a car outside his school last Friday remains in intensive care.

News 4 WOAI checked with University Hospital and found out JoShawn Thomas made it through surgery and is still in critical condition.

After an overwhelming outpouring of concern and support, JoShawn's family set up a Web site to keep people informed about his progress. Pictures on the Web site show the boy is in a neck brace and is set up with a ventilator.

JoShawn was hit by a car as he crossed the street, holding his mom's hand. He was on his way to a Head Start program when another mom who had just dropped off her child hit the boy with her car. Police said little JoShawn was trapped underneath the car that hit him and suffered severe head trauma.

A man who saw the accident used a jack to lift the car off the child.

Police are calling it an accident and said the driver will not face any charges.

A fund has been set up to help JoShawn's family pay his medical bills.  To visit the family's Web site and find out more about the fund, CLICK HERE.
