SAN ANTONIO -- If you're an animal lover, a local non-profit is hoping you'll become an adoption family to a very special dog. The Guide Dogs of Texas trains canines to be guide dogs for people with visual impairments and they need help in finding their animals a forever home.
Some of the dogs are being retired, while others may be up for adoption due to medical issues. The non-profit says those individuals interested in adopting should be able to take dog to a vet once a year, go out for walks and set aside play time. However, they warn not everyone may be able to adopt. There is an adoption fee and applicants must undergo an interview and training process.
