SAN ANTONIO -- Some say it's like a virus that just keeps coming back.

There's a "graffiti war" underway between homeowners, city officials, and taggers. It's a never-ending cycle for neighborhoods working to clean up graffiti just in time for someone else to pull out their spray paint and do it all over it again.

The biggest challenge for law enforcement is they can only make an arrest if they catch the taggers in the act. That means they need people who spot taggers in their neighborhoods to call police the minute they see them. Neighbors should also file a police report by calling the SAPD Non-Emergency number 210-207-7273.

The city has set up a graffiti removal hotline/web page. CLICK HERE or call 210-207-BUFF (2833). The program can help you with paint supplies as well as volunteer opportunities if you would like to help.

Now the actual art works from Graffiti artist are very impressive, and no I am not talking about the Gang tags you see on the street corner like dogs urinating on a tree. But messing up another person property (which includes the city) is wrong. I should go to the property of the these vandals and write on their property "Stupid lives here!". They will probably cry bloody murder because they will have to waste time and money to fix it.

Let's play Taser Tag San Antonio. Nail a toothbrush to their tongues, strap a feed bag full of paint around their necks, & keep jolting till the item is repainted. Shoot To Kill is another option since we have the right to protect our property. Gawd, I love Texas!

Our laws are WAAAAYYYY to lax... thats why they keep doing it over & over. You know damn well its the same kids too, why? because they know they will more than likely get away it (by the time cops get there) or B. They will get caught and spend the night in jail. ooohhh big deal. and we wonder why they keep doing it. I agree cane their a$$ see if they will do it again. Break the finger they use to spraypaint. something other than a slap on the wrist. Dont do it again ok?! um yeah sure.

Amen to all the comments. This city needs to toughen up on the laws. I completely agree that these vandals who are caught should be made to clean up and pay retribution to the howmowner for damages. And, agreed, if underage, the PARENTS should take responsibility for their kids' stupiditiy and have to help clean up and pay. Community service hours is the best way to go for this offense. Let them paint for hours. There's plenty of it out there. And call it what it is...grafitti...I hate the term "tagging."

If these perps. are under age, get thier parents out there with them to clean up that mess and show them on the news the whole week 24/7.

I'll be damned I'f I'm going to spend whatever free time I have, cleaning these punks work. That's what prison labor is for. You already have an ample supply of juvenile punks in jails you can use to clean this mess. Don't become California, San Antonio, or you'll see decent taxpeying people like me pull up and leave you broke.

First, lets stop calling them "taggers" and call them what they really are: VANDALS, CRIMINALS, JUVENILE DELINQUENTS. Second, make the penalties a lot stiffer. Put them to work in order to pay back to repair the damage they cause!
