SAN ANTONIO -- A father and son who were killed last week will be laid to rest Saturday.

Thirty-year-old Jose Luis Beltran and his three-year-old son Eli died after they were hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk near Interstate 10 and Foster Road. Beltran's pregnant wife and their four-year-old son survived their injuries.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office says no charges have been filed against the driver. Investigators say the driver may have been on her cell phone at the time of the crash.

Blame the district attorney for not filing charges on the case. Even if the police want to file and the DA says no, well it means no.

Since no charges have been filed and the family was on a sidewalk ... why are they waiting, hiding her, is her family influential --- just a little too secretive.

I hope these people had insurance to bury them. I agree AXMART1950 the police should charge the driver reckless driving and endangerment to the people. Failure to control the vehicle. Manslaughter!!!

I agree with AXMART1950 100%. Pretty pathetic that there's no charges against this driver. At the very least negligence!! Pitiful. My prayers and sympathy to the family in their time of loss. :(

If this man and his family were out walking on a sidewalk as was reported, why is the driver of the car that hit them not being held responsible for at the very least failure to maintain control of her vehicle? Why do people here in San Antonio have to put up with drivers who fail to pay attention to their driving because they are using the cell phone? I thought that it was illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle. Apparently, this man and his innicent son had to pay the price for the drivers "need to talk".
