SAN ANTONIO -- It's tax season, and you might be able to get your tax return done by a professional for free
The VITA program, or Volunteer Income Tax Assistance offers free tax preparation thanks to the City of San Antonio and the United Way.
The centers are going to be open through tax day, April 15th. The program helps those who make less than $55,000 a year as as an individual or overall as a family.
Jane Velasquez is the the Community Outreach Coordinator for Palo Alto College, one of 23 VITA locations throughout the city.
"They're just used to coming. They feel comfortable with us. They just come," Velasquez told us about those who have signed up for the service. "It's free of charge, and they're going to get it done in a timely manner."
Valasquez said you should bring your patience and the following forms:
- Driver's license
- Social Security card or Tax ID.
- W-2 forms from all your employers
- Your spouse, if you're filing with him/her
