SAN ANTONIO -- If you or someone you know hasn't had a breast cancer screening recently, DITI Imaging wants to help. The company is offering free screenings throughout October, in honor of Breast Health Awareness Month.
The National Cancer Institute recommends mammograms for women ages 40 and older, at least every one to two years. The test takes an x-ray picture of the breast and detects for cancer. However, DITI Imaging owner, Michelle Hart, says they use a new, less invasive test to better detect health problems.
"Thermography is safe and effective for all women," Hart said. "It's a valuable procedure for alerting you and your doctor to changes that can indicate early stage breast disease."
Thermography is a 15 minute test that can be used for young women, women with dense breast tissue or fibrocycstic breasts, women with implants and women who have had mastectomies without reconstructive surgery. Hart says the test is painless and radiation free.
To qualify, you must be a low income or uninsured applicant. You must also make an appointment. For more information on breast thermography or DITI Imaging, visit them at
