SAN ANTONIO -- While many of you already have your turkeys ready, thousands of volunteers are busy at work preparing for the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner. The annual event feeds seniors and others in need to ensure no one has to go hungry for the holidays.
"Our doors are never closed to anyone," said Patricia Jimenez, daughter of the late Raul Jimenez, and also one of the event organizers. "We just don't want you to be alone on Thanksgiving Day, so please join us."
The event, which will celebrate its 33rd year, is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center downtown Thursday. The doors open at 9 a.m., with dinner being served from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jimenez says there will also be musical entertainment for attendees from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
