We have never had a credit card and never will. We have survived over 20 years without one. We have a nice home and make decent incomes, because we have worked hard for years. We are considered middle class. The only pinch we felt was the from the gas prices. We don't live beyond our means, and aren't in competition with the Jones's. American needs to slow down, live within their means, and stop just giving people your money through interest rates. If you can't afford it, you shouldn't have it.

Everybody needs to stop using credit cards. Also, stop accepting the pre-approved cards that are shoved at you by the tellers at your bank and in the mail. Just so NO!!! If everyone buys only what they have cash for the economy will correct itself. Americans live way above their means. PAY YOURSELF FIRST..SAVE

Tiggerbearsmom: "Wages are way too low in San Antonio and we all know exactly why - when someone thinks that $10 an hour is a big deal, they need to be shot in the head. " You are so right. I make $9.00 an hour as an EMT and people are shocked that that is considered good in my business. It is horrible to think that people who work at Bill Miller's with no college education are making just as much or more than I do and every year I have to front the cost of uniforms and maintaining my certification... I have to work 72 hour workweeks to pay my bills and it is tiresome. But at the same time, I know how to budget my money and SAVE for rainy days.

Ok Tom, since you're the expert... I'd love to hear your ideas for what a US President should do in order to "fix" oil and food prices? Is it to cut off ties with Saudi Arabia and other oil producing nations of the GCC, forcing our joint forces bases to close and making enemies with what few allies we have left in that part of the world? Or maybe it is taxing the oil companies for more money? O, wait, that cost will just be passed on to the consumer making gas prices even higher. Food costs are too high; should we lower the prices that the farmers are allowed to sell their crops for at the market? Yup that's a good way to hit people when they're down... farmers are really getting rich! Look people, it's not like we have hit rock bottom as we did in the Great Depression. We're having to cut back on luxuries and we all know from Economics 101 that when supply outweighs demand because prices have become to high for people to pay, the prices begin falling in order to bring supply lines back down to the demand level. Yes, it's going to be rough... cutting cable, $5 a cup coffee at Starbucks, $300 car stereos that break the wallet but really tick off the neighbors by booming through the windows, and fewer trips to WalMart for crap that sits on our shelves and has no resale value(but it looks pretty). Wages are way too low in San Antonio and we all know exactly why - when someone thinks that $10 an hour is a big deal, they need to be shot in the head. But the more all of you want to "tax big companies" the less wages that company is going to be willing to pay. It also doesn't help that illegals are willing to take $5 an hour for that same job because they think $5 is a big deal and undercut all other job seekers. They are the ones who have created the real minimum wage around here that companies expect employees to accept. In any case, back to the "depression" - we aren't even close to what this country experienced in the 1930's! Budget according to your wages!

it will just continue to get worse the goverment for the people is the goverment for the rich look at the two losers runing for president do we hear any plan to fix the cost of fuel or food no because their both rich this does not effect them. americans will soon be at the mercy of the goverment our incomes are not tied to infation 80 to 85% of americans are headed to a drastice change in our lives and not for the better

Aimrod you have a six figure income and you can't afford anything? Maybe you should take care of your money yourself and if you do then let your wife handle it because you are not investing your 6 figure income very well. http://rob7t7.blogspot.com/
