Neighbor Helen McAndrews, who lives behind the home, said she woke up after her dogs started barking and went outside to see what was happening. She said after opening her back door, she saw her neighbor's home engulfed in flames. The flames spread through the attic and back part of the home.
Neighbors came together to offer the family water, clothes, and a place to stay.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. Damage estimates were set at more than $100,000.
