SAN ANTONIO -- Government officials are warning people about scammers who are posing as tech support workers for companies like Dell or Microsoft.
The Federal Trade Commission says tens of thousands of consumers are being targeted. Victims get a phone call from someone who tells them their computer has a problem. The person calling then tries to trick people into buying software.
Officials say if you get one of these phone calls:
- Do not give out your password
- Do not give someone remote access
- Don't rely on your caller ID
The FTC says the best thing to do is hang up.
