SAN ANTONIO -- Tax day is April 15th. And if you dread having to deal with all the paperwork and receipts, then we have some good news for you.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or VITA will again offer FREE tax return preparation assistance.
Starting Wednesday, January 13th, those who qualify can have their taxes prepared for free at one of 28 sites across San Antonio.
What's even better is that this year, the maximum income requirement has been raised by $10,000 dollars. Now individuals and families can earn up to $55,000 and still qualify.
"Not only do they get their income tax prepared for free, they also get some financial education along with it," explained Deborah Andrews of VITA. "They learn about all the credits and benefits that the government is providing."
VITA will also host an event with the goal of completing 1,000 tax returns in one day. That tax preparation fair is set for January 31st, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
