UVALDE, Texas -- For the first time in its history, Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA ) has declared Stage IV mandatory pumping reductions for users within the Uvalde Pool (Uvalde County).
Edwards Aquifer Authority officials made the announcement Monday. They say the 10-day rolling average water level readings recorded at the J-27 index well are currently below the Stage IV trigger threshold of 842 feet.
The plan requires Edwards groundwater permit holders in Uvalde County to reduce their pumping from the aquifer by 35 percent of their annual authorized amount.
The Uvalde Pool had been under Stage III restrictions since May 10th of this year and Stage II restrictions since June 27, 2011. The San Antonio Pool remains under Stage II limits.
