SAN ANTONIO – With rain expected most of the day today, it's a perfect time for a spring break indoor adventure. Jim Dalglish with the Witte Museum tells us all about the the new “Dinosaurs Unearthed” exhibit. Click here to watch...
Step back in time to 65 million years to when dinosaurs roamed the earth and discover the most fascinating creatures that ever lived. Featuring the world’s largest and most advanced animatronic dinosaurs, Dinosaurs Unearthed also presents exciting information on new discoveries. Walk among life-sized dinosaurs, including Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops and Stegosaurus and unravel the mystery of the unknown. Then head to the paleontological dig to unearth the fossils that remained long after the dinosaurs extinction.
As exciting new discoveries have been uncovered in recent years, Dinosaurs Unearthed is the first exhibition in the world to feature life-sized feather-covered dinosaur models. The exhibition highlights the latest thinking in paleontology, including evidence suggesting some dinosaurs are the ancestors of modern day birds. Some paleontologists think dinosaurs such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex once began their lives covered with hair-like feathers.
Created with electronics instead of hydraulics, these models capture some of the most life-like motions ever created. You can even control some of these state-of-the-art animatronic dinosaurs.
There is a $3 surcharge in addition to museum general admission for Dinosaurs Unearthed. The exhibit runs through September 6.
