SAN ANTONIO -- Designer babies are quickly becoming the new normal thanks to the evolution of fertility technology.

Egg banks are linked in a way like never before, allowing families to pick and choose the characteristics they want in their child.

News 4 WOAI's Mireya Villarreal took us inside a San Antonio clinic that is leading the way in this technology. CLICK HERE to watch.

FDNY1983: I don't think you understand what is going on here. You can NOT take one couple's sperm and egg and change the eye color, hair color etc. on them, that's not what is happening. What is happening, is people who are infertile have to use donors (not their DNA, someone else's DNA). When you use a donor, you now have options clearly presented to you. Most people use these options to match up to a similar donor to the person who is infertile so that it looks like them. This is NOT about being selfish, it's a fertility treatment where you have the option to choose the donor. Very few will be choosing a donor who does not look like them or else it makes everyone assume the kid came from other parents rather than assuming it's theirs.

If today was back in the Hitler era, pretty sure Hitler would have put in his order for a couple million little Hitlers. Every body has there own opinion when it comes to Church garbage. More little Hitlers. Mindless idiots but still with an opinion.

The covenant made between Moses and God automatically gives the Jews a pass. They don't need to believe in Jesus, they're already saved. Doesn't matter if you're a secular Jew, it gives them the right to get away with murder, metaphorically speaking.

Basically, if you are a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; then you are Jewish. The specifics of that depend on whether you follow the Biblical designation, or the rabbinical one. Some Jews do not practice Judaism, and vice versa. Anyway, I think the point is that some people want their eggs to go to people who have the same religion that they do. After all, even if you never see the kid that results from your donated eggs, they are your own flesh and blood, and many people feel a sense of responsibility about that. Does that make sense?

hmm limdull... you have me thinking about that one :) but is it really though being a descendant of a Jew or Hebrew or inheriting the practice of Judaism? do all Jews practice Judaism?

The only religion that is also considered on a hereditary basis that I know of is Jewish, and yes it specifies if donors are of Jewish origin or not, since I guess that's important to them. Also, I will point out that most people who use fertility banks choose features that resemble the parents who were infertile. So, this is a good thing, and I wouldn't call them designer babies, it is a solution for people who don't have other options.
