SAN ANTONIO -- Teen pregnancy is declining in Bexar County, but the teen birth rates continue to be 47% higher than the national average.
Project Worth released the latest teen pregnancy data Wednesday, which is also the 11th annual National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.
In 2011, 2,952 teenagers gave birth in Bexar County. That number is down 9.8% since 2010, when 3,276 teens gave birth in Bexar County.
Project Worth and the city's Metro Health department credit education for the decline.
