Should inmates have to pay for their own medical care?
That's the question being debated by lawmakers and attorneys over the HB26 bill, which requires inmates pay $100 dollars a year for prison medical services. Before the bill, they had to pay $3 for every doctor visit.
Lawmakers passed the bill to help keep the burden off taxpayers. Critics of the bill say it's not cost effective and poses a risk to inmates who may not seek medical care due to lack of funds.
