DISCUSS: Should inmates pay more for their own medical care?

I think I'm more concerned with inmates that create their own medical conditions in order to get a field trip to local hospitals at the taxpayer's expense

Free health care for criminals should be granted only when every condemned prisoner works at least 8 hours a day, just like us decent people. Why a criminal should have free anything, while outside the children of honest, hard working families have to pay nightmirish fees for medical attention? The first sign showing the weakness and pusilanimity of lawmakers is that they don't want to "bother" criminals with work in jail. That's why crime and criminals are thriving in America: representatives, senators and governants in general are timid and over-sensitive when dealing with criminals.

Isn't it "fair" that they should have to pay their own way, or is it only "fair" when a working-stiff has his paycheck "redistributed" to cover an inmate's expenses?

Inmates should pay for every freaking thing they get in prison. Work their azz till they're too tired to mess with other inmates or create trouble for guards. If I ran a prison it would be like a boot camp. Those baztards would be so worn out at the end of the day all they would do was eat and sleep.

The three dollar fee certainly won't make a dent in the cost anyway. The inmates should be able to keep the money to have a little pleasure in that hole they got themselves thrown into.
