How in the world did this thing pass in the election? What a screwed up mess this will be...forever! Thank God I live only a block from the Leon Valley city limits. I'll be doing lots of shopping there.

The best way to show Little Henry your feelings about this new tax is to start spending your money OUTSIDE of the city. Food is not taxed so you can still hit the HEB or other market of your choice. Cut down or just stop frequenting the local restaurants and bars, buy your clothes, booze, cigarettes and other items on-line (if able) or in New Braunfels or other local areas. If you have access to the bases you have another way to deny Little Henry some of your money as well. Take away the business revenue inside the city limits due to this tax and the business owners will also fight for this to be repealed. This City administration only understands they have screwed up when it starts hitting their revenue stream.

that's what we get for voting in weasel castro into office. He's always looking for new ways to spend our hard earned dollars. Just like his pet project to change the street sings from the former downtown "Durango" street to "Caesar Chavez" because his mama said so. The original estimate was just under $100,000, but in the end came to $250,000...a quarter million dollars of tax dollars so he could railroad this through for his mama.

Isn't this discrimination against our kids? We are in America, and our children have "rights". Right to get an education, free or otherwise, so I say the stupid Mayor wants to pull a fast one, just like stupid OBAMA pulled on our American people. I would go try to register my child, and if not accepted, I would call authorities to let them know my child was turned away from the Pre-K because he speaks the language of the US of America, plus also because he wasn't born in Mexico! Make it a national issue and see how the other Americans respond!

Just another way for our stupid mayor to show he is good at piddling away tax payer dollars. For the $15,000.00 per child this will cost can send them to private school where they will actually learn something. FYI Julian, if you think the parents are going to read to their kids at home, they are not! They will use the time the kids aren't with em to get drunk or stoned!

The approved 2013 capital budget includes funding for Pre-K 4 SA model centers. How can they approve it in a budget, before the pre-K was even voted on? October is the start/end of the fiscal year, voting was in November.

In our coutry, we have local school boards to oversee the education of our children. That is not something that we have traditionally allowed the government to handle. Have you wondered why the leftists in this city have side stepped the school boards with their invasion into education territory? "The education of children, from the moment they can get along without a mother's care, shall be in state institutions at state expense"- Karl Marx, The Communist Manifesto. If you have never read that drivel, I strongly recommend it. It will help you understand where our leftists come up with their idiot ideas.
