Chrysler is recalling 278,000 pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles.
A nut in the rear axle can come loose, causing the axle to lock up, which can cause the driver to lose control.
The recall covers Ram 1500 pickups from the 2009-2012 model years as well as Dodge Dakota pickups from 2009-2011. Also included are 2009 Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango sport utility vehicles.
Chrysler will start repairing the problem next month.
