SAN ANTONIO -- The city's Solid Waste Management Department wants San Antonio residents to recycle their Christmas trees. Starting this weekend, SWMD will be collecting the trees for free from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 20 drop-off locations across the city.
Before dropping off your tree, residents are asked to remove all objects such as lights, wire, tinsel, ornaments, and nails. Free mulch will also be available to residents at the various sites while supplies last.
If you are still celebrating the holidays and are not ready quite ready to let your tree go, a second opportunity to recycle your tree will be available next weekend January 12th and 13th.
In addition, the Bitters Brush Recycling Center and the Nelson Gardens Brush Recycling Center will accept trees throughout the month of January during regular business hours.
