SAN ANTONIO -- The Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers will be at the Institute of Texan Cultures to prepare for their annual
Buffalo Soldier Day. In observance of African-American History Month, the Institute of Texan Cultures offers a program focusing on the historic African-American military units that scouted and protected the Texas Frontier.
Buffalo Soldier Day is an opportunity for guests to visit a frontier fort, learn real techniques Buffalo Soldiers used to survey the West, learn scouting methods, handle artifacts and learn the regimental duties of the Buffalo Soldiers. Also, they can explore how the Buffalo Soldiers shaped America's pastime and engage in a 1870s game of baseball, between the Buffalo Soldier regimental baseball club and the Boerne White Sox Vintage Base Ball Club.
