AUSTIN, Texas -- Members of the House Licensing and Administrative Procedures Committee are considering a bill that would allow liquor sales on Sundays. But a legislator from San Antonio has voiced concern about whether selling liquor on Sundays would make it easier for minors to have access to alcohol.

Rep. Roland Gutierrez is worried that doing away with restrictions on Sunday liquor sales would open the door for expanding liquor sales to grocery stores. During a hearing Gutierrez said "It's a hell of lot easier to steal a little pint of alcohol, than a six-pack of beer."

I wish they'd sell hard liquor in the grocery stores here. Would save me a trip to the liquor store.

It's already easy for minors to get alcohol. What planet does he live on? Come out from under that rock. You got to come with a better line of BS than that lame statement.

Who cares, i just drove through roswell new mexico where you can buy a bottle of jack daniels at the gas station. Oddly enough it wasn't the end of the world. This is why i hate texas, so old school about the stupidest things.

All beer and whiskey needs to be against the law every day, but it especially needs to be forbidden on the Lord's day when people should be worshiping our Lord and Savior and studying the scriptures--nothing else. Drinking beer and whiskey is a sin, and we need nothing else that will lead to more sin

I don't believe it would make it easier for them, if they really want it, it is much easier to go to the fridge and take one of "dad's beers". This is a parenting issue. As a working adult who works a non-traditional schedule, overnight and off in the middle of the week, having laws that restrict when it is convenient for me to make a purchase like this is frustrating to say the least.

"It's a hell of lot easier to steal a little pint of alcohol, than a six-pack of beer." I'm sure grocery stores will keep the 'little pint bottles of alcohol' behind the counter or in a locked case like spray paint. I had to wait 20 minutes to get someone at Walmart to open the perfume case so that I could make a purchase last Christmas. What a dumb statement.

. During a hearing Gutierrez said "It's a hell of lot easier to steal a little pint of alcohol, than a six-pack of beer." Is this a voice of experience? When Texas lawmakers give one of their own a standing ovation for getting a DWI, then I don't think this bill much matters either way.
