Cyber thieves are sending out text messages to customers of Sterling Bank telling them their accounts have been closed. The text message also says the only way to reopen them is to call a specific number and give all their personal information.

The Better Business Bureau says don't call. It's a smishing scam that could drain your account.

Sterling Bank is based in Sugar Land, Texas and has several branches here in San Antonio. The bank is warning its customers about the scam with a recording on it's phone line.

The Office of the Texas Attorney General also released a statement Wednesday saying, "Banks do not send unsolicited electronic messages or make unsolicited phone calls asking customers for personal information."
