SAN ANTONIO -- Bats under an Interstate 35 bridge near the new part of the River Walk are drawing a crowd each night. The bats come out around 8:30 p.m. and people line the Camden Street bridge to watch thousands of them head out for the night.
The River Commissioner doesn't think the bats will pose a problem. Just to be sure, tests will be done on the water frequently to make sure bacteria levels don't spike due to bat droppings.
San Antonio River Commissioner Lynda Billa Burke told News 4 WOAI, "It is something fun to talk about. It's part of San Antonio. It's almost like a tourist attraction."
The new part of the River Walk opens this weekend but you can see the bats at dusk each night from the bridge.
