SAN ANTONIO -- A kitten who was found badly burned is recovering but still needs some TLC.
A veteran found the four to five month old kitten on the Northeast Side and took him to an animal clinic for treatment. The kitten had severe burns on all four of his paws.
"We don't know if he got into some type of toxic chemical or if it was fire related," explained Veterinarian Dr. Ellen Jefferson. "We are not really sure at this point."
Dr. Jefferson works with
San Antonio Pets Alive. The group rescues animals and tries to find them foster parents or permanent homes.
"We see lots of animals that come in and have been hurt intentionally or unintentionally," said Dr. Jefferson. "And often they are euthanized, because we don't have enough foster homes for them."
Stilts got his name from the way he walks now. He needs a home. His recovery from burns will take time and will include frequent visits to the vet.
"He'll need to come in twice a week to get bandages replaced."
The San Antonio Pets Alive is hoping someone will step up and help Stilts and many other animals in need.
