SAN ANTONIO -- The hot, dry conditions we've been experiencing for the last few weeks are causing the Edwards Aquifer level to drop fast.
The aquifer has dropped 4 feet since Sunday, and San Antonio Water System officials are reminding everyone that we are still in Stage Two drought restrictions and need to continue to conserve.
“San Antonio has managed well through watering restrictions this spring with once per week watering,” said Anne Hayden, SAWS Communications Manager. “We are asking people to continue to be diligent and follow the Stage Two drought rules to help us avoid further restrictions.”
Off-duty police officers are issuing citations for watering on the wrong day and water waste. Since Stage Two restrictions were put in place on May 1, more than 500 citations have been issued.
