SAN ANTONIO -- The city is hoping to bring solar energy to the masses and want to get you involved. Today, the City of San Antonio, CPS Energy and OCI Solar Power broke ground on the Alamo Solar Farm on the south side. The 700 acre project will bring 400 megawatts of solar energy to the area and 800 jobs.

OCI says they're hiring in all skills including: mechanical engineers, welders, administrative staff, human resources, handlers and steel cutters.

"It (Alamo Solar Farm) gives everybody the opportunity here," said Tony Dorazio, President of OCI Solar Power. "No matter what you do, you should be able to find a job with OCI or one of our consortion partners."

OCI has already started taking applications. They hope to have the project up and running by this fall.

I went to OCI solar power web site and only found job openings for bachlor degree applicants and I left two messages for more information. I have called several times and only get an answering machine. My brother went the workforce and they had no information about Alamo Solar Farm (OCI solar power)

And i'm sure this little project is highly subsidized by the American taxpayer, and a good portion of that money will be siphoned off and end up in a politicians offshore bank account.

Mayor Julian Castro and the City Council members (who voted for because the ones that voted against had enough sense to know it was a bad transaction) approved to sell 86 acres at Brooks City Base for $5 million(tax free)to CPS Energy and OCI Solar Power when the property was appraised at $17 million and use our tax money to cover the remaining $12 million. All to create 800 jobs and have South Korea-based solar manufacturer Nexelon provide solar panels and CPS charge us customers. Why because Julian says he wants SA to be a solar hub.
