SAN ANTONIO -- As the weekend approaches, most young children may be thinking about Saturday morning cartoons and playing with friends.

But one 7-year-old girl has very different plans. Kayli Hernandez is a little girl with big dreams to help the homeless, and she's starting to make them come true by selling the things that mean the most to her.

"I am going to sell some of my toys," Kayli told us. "I am going to get the money for the homeless people, because I want to see the homeless people in a house with water and food."

The first grader and her mom, Connie, live on the North Side, near San Pedro Boulevard. It's an area where Connie says they see homeless people often.

She's very kind hearted," Connie said of her daughter. "She always wants to bring them some water, buy them some sandwiches, and things like that."

But this time, Kayli wanted to do something bigger to help the homeless.

"And so, then she kept telling people about it," Connie explained. "And so some of my neighbors got involved, and her grandparents gave her some items to sell."

"It would be lovely to see a little girl wearing this, and I want this to cost $1.00," said Kayli about one of her items.

And one dollar at a time, Kayli hopes to raise a lot of money.

"I want to raise $100 billion," Kayli told us.

And no matter what dollar amount Kayli raises, she plans to donate it to the Christian Assistance Ministry in San Antonio, a non-profit that provides assistance to individuals in need, including the homeless.

Kalie wants everyone to come out to her garage sale, which is set for all day Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd. She is also still accepting donations at her home at 122 Shearer Hills Drive.
