SAN ANTONIO -- The calendar shows it is winter in San Antonio, but the Parks and Recreation Department is already getting ready for the summer.
The parks department is taking applications for 600 summer jobs.
Opportunities range from supervisors and assistants for the more than 60 Summer Youth Program sites to pool supervisors and lifeguards for the 24 outdoor pools.
The starting salary for a lifeguard is $9.01 per hour.
