SAN ANTONIO -- Lorena Mendoza Smith was killed more than a year ago, and police need your help to find her killer.
The 46-year-old was shot in the parking lot of a Hooters at US Highway 281 North and Bitters Road around 3:30 a.m. on May 28, 2011.
Investigators say Smith was sitting in the driver's seat of her car talking to a man who was sitting in the front passenger seat. While the two were talking, the man said he noticed a vehicle had parked beside Smith's vehicle, and someone then knocked on the driver's side window and demanded he and Smith get out of the car.
Smith and the man did not get out of the car, and the man said the person knocked on the window twice more before he heard a loud bang. The man then jumped out of the car and ran. Other witnesses told police the suspects' vehicle then took off, heading west.
The suspects' vehicle is described as a red, 4-door SUV (Toyota Rav4).
