BEAUMONT -- At least two people are dead and dozens more injured after a massive pileup near Beaumont. Police say 100 vehicles crashed due to dense fog on Interstate 10 around 8 a.m.
About 120 people have injuries ranging from broken bones to scrapes and bruises. A man and woman riding in a Chevy Suburban SUV was crushed by a tractor trailer.
Authorities are still investigating the crash, but say it was likely caused by one accident that spurred several chain reaction wrecks. At least 51 people have been transported to area hospitals, with eight of them in critical condition.
I-10's eastbound lanes are expected to remain closed most of the day.
