SAN ANTONIO -- It's a can parade at Northside ISD's Timberwilde Elementary.
Students dance in one by one, to help feed the hungry with one can at a time.
Kimberly Kelvin with the school says, “We know a lot of families are hungry especially this time of year and with the economy the way it is, so we thought it was a good idea to have our second annual food drive.”
Not only is it fun but the students learn just how good it feels to help others. Organizers recommend other schools do the same thing. And the
San Antonio Food Bank makes it easy.
“They'll find out all the information on how to organize a food drive, how they can coordinate that with us,” says Zuani Villarreal with the food bank. “If they need donations barrels and to coordinate a pick up, as well.”
Students at Timberwilde will have two more can parades before Thanksgiving with all the food going to the San Antonio Food Bank.
