SAN ANTONIO -- A grocery bag can help us reach our goal of raising one million pounds of food this month for the San Antonio Food Bank. The bag went out in Friday's San Antonio Express-News.

Just fill it up with peanut butter or other non-perishable food and drop it off at the closest Security Service Federal Credit Union. The locations are right on the side of the bag.

You can also find a form to make a donation to the food bank. Even If you didn't get a bag, any bag will do.

One man who is enthusiastically helping the food bank is Gregory Berlanga. A few years ago, he relied on the food bank for a time after being laid off. He tells News 4 WOAI he will never forget the kindness or the assistance he received for himself and his daughter.

“It allowed me to take the funds that I would have spent on food during that time frame to put somewhere else toward insurance or things she needed,” Berlanga says.

Berlanga is back on his feet and working to help stock up the food bank. He says he wants to give back to a group that does so much for so many not only here in San Antonio but in 16 surrounding counties.
