SAN ANTONIO -- Drought and heat is setting many trees up for disaster. The stray storms we've seen have unfortunately been cranking out more wind than rain, leaving a growing number of trees down.

Trees have fallen in various parts of the city. One recently injured one person. While some are just old and rotting, experts say many are dry and stressed.

Mark Peterson, an arborist for the San Antonio Water System says the drought has been devastating to some trees.

"Very hot, very blustery...that puts a lot of stress on the trees and their ability to absorb water from the ground, "Peterson notes. "If a tree all of sudden is turning brown throughout it, that's a bad sign That means the system has collapsed, almost like the cardiovascular system or a heart attack."

Hand watering your tree is an obvious fix, but a gadget called a Treegator is like a bag that zips around the tree. You fill it with water and tiny holes in the bottom give it a nice slow spring-like shower.
