SAN ANTONIO - I want you to meet a very brave, very beautiful young lady we had the pleasure of meeting. She can tell you firsthand how important it is to donate blood.
“In the beginning I was like any other girl. I loved to run. I loved to dance,” explains Angelica Estrada.
But then a year and a half ago Angelica started getting headaches. Doctors discovered a brain tumor. During dangerous operations doctors turned to the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center for her transfusions.
Angelica wants you to know how important that donated blood is.
“It's really going to save a lot of lives,” she says. “It will help not only me, but tons of children from three year olds to adults.”
Big milestones for Angelica this year: She had her 15th birthday and completed her treatments.
So how can you help? Join us on Friday for our "Holiday Heroes" Blood Drive & Marrow Registration. The July 4th weekend is a critical time for blood donations. Supplies typically run low. Just stop by the donor pavilion off I-10 and First Park Ten Boulevard from six in the morning to six at night.
