SAN ANTONIO - Find out about all kinds of ways to save energy, water, the environment and money in Maverick Park on Broadway just north of downtown San Antonio on Saturday, May 7th.

The annual Solar Fest kicks off with a "Run on the Sun" 5k Run/Walk at 8 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m.

Solar Fest is a real party complete with food, music, dunking booths and even hamster balls and climbing walls. But it's also an opportunity for dozens of companies and non-profit groups to show off the latest developments in solar power and how to save money while saving the environment.

You can check out how to get rebates on solar installations, how to find "green jobs" and build green homes, plus the latest in electric and hybrid-powered cars.

Solar Fest is put on by Solar San Antonio, which is a non-profit group created by the now-97-year-old William Sinkin.

"When you see solar, you know you're doing something and seeing something that's helping the quality of our society," Sinkin said. "You know it makes a contribution to our health and to our money and to our business. That's why I get excited."
