So many of us complain about all the problems we see on the news.
But how many of us really step up and do something about those problems?
I have two answers to that question:
a) Not enough people.
b) But many more people than you realize.
So I want to let you know about a great way you can help right here in San Antonio - and about some people who are already doing something.
Become a mentor. Help a young person. You can change their life and yours at the same time.
That word "mentor" may sound formal and new-fangled to you, because so many of us never heard it when we were growing up. At least I never heard of formal mentoring programs.
But most of us were lucky enough to have different people throughout our lives who helped fill the role. Parents, teachers, friends, coaches, bosses, other relatives... whoever.
Check out
dozens of groups around San Antonio that could use your help. They just want a little of your time. And your attention for young people who don't get enough of that. (more links at the bottom)
This week I was honored to be a small part of recognizing some of the best mentors from all around this area.
These are the people, groups, and even businesses who are not only role models for the young people they help directly, but they're also role models for the rest of us.
