Bill Sinkin, a driving force behind Hemisfair '68 and many other San Antonio projects over decades, celebrated his 99th birthday with a fundraiser party on Friday at the Pearl Stable.
It raised money for for Solar San Antonio, a non-profit organization he started when he was just 86.
He says what keeps him going is a desire to live and to make a difference and that a funny thing happens as you get older.
"More people are there to help you out, to eat and go places. It's as if you were a grown child."
After being "roasted" by several of his many admirerers, including Tom Frost and Aurora Geis, Sinkin took the podium.
Sinkin still goes in to work every day dressed in a suit and bow tie. And Friday he stood behind that podium and spoke for 20 minutes about his long life and his long-time love, his late wife, Fay Sinkin.
Happy Birthday, Bill! We're looking forward to the big party next year!
